Scholarships for women got special attention with the new Back to School with Obama campaign. There is a lot of talk about the ongoing recession and the stimulus package offered by the Obama Administration. Single Moms who have dropped the idea of returning to college now rejoice for Obama has pledged all women who want to study more than $10,000 in scholarships.

How one wants to use the money is up to the women to consider. The scholarship is provided by the federal government, colleges, special interest groups and colleges. The chance of getting a scholarship is very high and the beauty is that one need not pay the money back. The chance of gaining a degree and much higher income is very high. the scholarship money can be utilized in any way the scholar feels it befitting to their studies. But be aware that there are a lot of shady scholarships which claim a lot of things. They could purchase books or pay fees or any other thing which helps them study. here are people who use the scholarship money even to buy a car to enable them to reach college and back from their place of stay.

Search the internet for scholarships and enter your details to come up with the right kind of scholarship for you. Another common way to dun your college will be to use one of those student loans for college education. But the problem with these loans are that they are not very affordable. So my advice would be to check out the popular scholarships and keep the student loans as a means of funding your education, secondary.

There are different avenues to finding graduate school scholarships. Hence, you could spend all your time looking in the wrong place and end up with an empty hand. It is not just a total waste of time but you end up with nothing that can support your graduate studies.

The best way to gain more success in your search for graduate school scholarships is to develop a strategy that involves the following practical measures:

•	Assess your chances. You want to contact the graduate school scholarship provider for set of requirements, criteria, and the specific coverage of the scholarship. Some types of scholarship have certain underlying conditions such as funding it first and then you will be provided with a reimbursement. If the conditions do not apply to you, then you can save yourself some time and look for others that can support you.

•	If you find a program, research on it thoroughly. Learn about the application process and other information that will enable you to enhance your application.

•	You can also inquire into graduate schools that are less popular and yet equally competitive. You can have fewer applicants to content with, thus your chances of qualifying are much higher.

•	Look at the overall graduate school scholarships package. As long as the scholarship package will be able to pay you through college without requiring repayment, then there is no point why you shouldn’t consider them.

•	Consider the length of the program. Some graduate school scholarships only offer assistance for a given length of time. Hence, opt for those that provide financial support until your completion of the graduate degree.

Statistics show that only 30% of black women are currently living with their husbands, hence, there has been a tremendous increase in the number of single mothers. Although many of them would like to complete their college and school education, day-care expenditures and financial strain do not allow them to go back to college education. The thought of making education accessible to these women have led to the varied scholarships for black single mothers which are being issued by the government as well as by very dedicated women organizations.

Tracing the right scholarship for you is not an easy task. Extensive search is required to find the correct scholarships which would promise to take care of all the expenses involved during the course of the degree. The foremost organization to be mentioned in this regard for the education of single black mothers is the Sister Thea Bowman Foundation. Sister Thea was a Catholic convert and started scholarship for the welfare of the single black mothers. The foundation provides four scholarships to single black mothers. They agree to grant an amount of $30,000 for a period of 4 years, for each of the black mother-student, attending the College of St.Mary, and additionally St.Mary will also provide assistance of $24,000 to each of the selected students. The single black mother must have completed high school and should be from a low-income background. This is an amazing opportunity dedicated to the growth of single black mothers and an encouragement to them to move ahead in their lives.

The mention of eLearners.com in this context cannot be ignored who works entirely for the benefit of mothers. It has bonded with online colleges like Walden University, DeVry University and others and has announced to provide 285 scholarships to single mothers which actually totals to $5 million. Apart from this, it has started the ‘Project Working Mom’ for all types of mothers as an awareness program to utilize the opportunities available to them. Raise the Nation is also an efficient women’s organization, working towards the necessities of single mothers and also provides financial aid for the educational requirements of single mothers.

The government is also making use of all possible funds to educate the mothers and is initiating the drive to send mothers back to school. Obama’s ‘Moms return to school’ campaign is an indication of this fact. Also, the federal grants are much improved nowadays and are available to a wider section of the society.

It is very important to track the best scholarship available for the single black mothers. NAACP or the United Negro College Fund are important institutes which can provide the apt information regarding the facilities for single black mothers.

Maybe, the start for the lookout of such opportunities might prove hard. But, small difficulties should not let anyone deter them from their track. Be patient and understand that there are numerous scholarships available for black single mothers which have been started with the only aim of providing the best options for single mothers and developing a sound future for them.

According to the College Board, students who pursue the most rigorous plan of study in high school have the greatest chance for success in college. University and college admissions officers also agree that the courses taken in high school are the most valid indicators of future success at the college level. There are very few exceptions to that rule.

Most high schools allow students to choose courses in the late winter or early spring for the following school year. This is an ideal time to talk about which courses will lead to the final goal, and which courses will help to position you for admission to the right college. Some high schools also allow students to select courses for the second semester a month or two before the semester begins. So, there may be two opportunities to review your plan of study and to make sure that you choose the right ones. Rigor is the key word.

Even students in the eighth grade have the opportunity to choose courses for high school. High school guidance counselors meet with eighth graders at various points in the year to assist them in the transition to high school. Although the middle school counselor usually plans the high school course of study, the high school counselor contributes to that process.

The National Association of College Admissions Counselors estimates that there
will be two million students entering college in the fall. Of course, more will apply. Now granted, not all of those applicants have the same goals that you have. After all, you want more from your education than a degree and a college transcript worthy of admission to a good graduate school. You want a space where you can learn more about you, where you will discover a way to bring your special message, your gifts, and your talents to the world.

You need a place that will also allow you to grow and expand while you lead and serve. Yes, you are a different case, but you will still be competing for a prized spot in the freshman class with all of the other college applicants in this country. In addition, you will compete with thousands of foreign nationals who apply to college in the United States every year. Foreign students generally understand and practice rigor from an early age and already speak multiple languages. Many colleges actively recruit foreign nationals because they have less need for financial aid or scholarships. In other words, it is a very profitable thing for the colleges to do. So get ready for the competition.

This is what college admissions officers expect to see as a minimum course of high school study:

English: four years

Mathematics: three years

Science: three years, including a year of a laboratory science, one year of a life science, and one physical science.

Social Studies: three years, including world history, some study of United States
Government, and some United States History.

Foreign Language: one or two years, preferably two years. The more, the better.

The Arts: advisable and frequently required.

Physical Education: credits set by the state.

Electives: courses that you choose according to personal interest

Most school districts will require the aforementioned courses for graduation from
their schools. So, students will have to take these subjects. Aim for more than the
minimum. Aim for the highest level or most advanced courses in these subject areas.

Again, rigor is the key word. Always attempt to do more than is offered to you. You will amaze yourself with what you can accomplish.

Deciding to go to college is the one of the best decisions that you or your children can make. When finding ways to pay for college there are many options that are available to you. One of the options that are available to you is scholarships. Scholarship can be a blessing if you apply for the right ones.

One of the biggest things to remember when applying for scholarships is apply, apply, and apply. Apply until your fingers fall off. You can never apply for too many scholarships. There are many scholarship outreach programs that allow you to search for and apply for scholarships. You should also manager your time so that the funding will be available before you start school.

You should apply for scholarships as early as possible. Many of the scholarship programs out there have strict deadlines that need to be met. If you do not meet these deadlines then you are wasting your time. Be punctual and apply early. There are also guidelines that you should follow when applying.

* You should be prepared and be ready for whatever is asked of you.

* Write an application request letter (or apply online).

* Call your local school district and obtain your transcript and test scores.

* Obtain at least two (2) letters of recommendation from people that can comment on your education and your character.

* Keep records of where you have sent transcripts and other documents (including applications)

* Gather your information and ask yourself these questions:

- What career do I want to enter?
- Are my goals related to the goals of the scholarship?
- Am I qualified to apply for this scholarship?
- What have I achieved in my academic career?
- What is my potential?
- Where do I see myself in 5-10 years?

* Make sure your application is neat and organized.
